Transport Desgagnés specializes in ship management, in shipping line and  in vessels operations in order to freight items to internal customers which are its commercial subsidiaries to fulfill their commercial needs.

Desgagnés Marine Cargo INC. (21, Marché-Champlain Street, Quebec City (Quebec) G1K 8Z8 Canada) is recruiting four (4) Masters for it’s Cargo Fleet vessels, trading in the Great Lakes, in Eastern Canada and in the Canadian Arctic.

The Captain has full responsibility for the operational and administrative management of the vessel. The priorities are crew safety, ship safety, cargo integrity and environmental protection. The Captain ensures the complete management of all activities, operations and maneuvers, as well as all personnel on board the vessel.

Job requirements:

· Certificate: STCW Regulation II/2

· Master Mariner Certificate of Competency (STCW)

· Generic ECDIS Training

· Bridge Resources Management Training (Would be an asset)

· Valid Marine Medical Certificate

· Certificate of Competency in Marine Emergency Duties (STCW)

· Marine Advanced First Aid certificate (STCW)

· 4 months experience as Master, 8 months as Chief Officer and 24 months as Officer on cargo vessels

· Proficiency in English (Working Language)

All applicants must have previous relevant experience on cargo vessels and hold all appropriate STCW certificates, as outlined above. The possession of Transport Canada certificates is not mandatory: Successful applicants will be supported by the Company in their efforts to obtain recognition of their STCW certificates by Transport Canada and employment will be conditional upon obtainment of such recognition.

Daily Rate: Competitive salary in regard of the applicant’s expertise and experience.

À titre de commandant, le ou la Capitaine a l’entière responsabilité de la gestion opérationnelle et administrative du navire. Ses priorités sont la sécurité des membres d’équipages, la sécurité du navire, l’intégrité de la cargaison et de la protection de l’environnement. Le ou la Capitaine s’assure de la gestion complète de toutes les activités, les opérations et manœuvres, ainsi que de l’ensemble du personnel à bord du navire.
