En tant que titulaire du poste, vous aurez la responsabilité d’évaluer à l’embauche les compétences du personnel navigant à bord des remorqueurs. Vous serez responsable de structurer les cours et élaborer le matériel de formation basé sur le plan de formation de la compagnie. Vous coordonnerez la diffusion de la formation pratique et théorique en collaboration avec l’institution de formation locale, afin de rendre les candidats autonomes dans leur port d’attache, et ce dans toutes les conditions d’opérations. Vous évaluerez également les candidats au terme de leur formation. Finalement, vous serez appelé à vous déplacer sur certains sites d’opérations à l’extérieur du Canada, principalement dans les Caraïbes.

RESPONSABILITÉS

- Participer aux processus d’évaluation et d’embauche du personnel navigant de pont;

- À titre d’expert de contenu, participer à l’élaboration des plans de cours théoriques et pratiques à partir du plan officiel de formation;

- Planifier et organiser la formation théorique et pratique dans le port d’opérations;

- Diffuser de la formation théorique et pratique en collaboration avec l’institution de formation locale et assurer le suivi du plan de formation officiel;

- Évaluer ponctuellement le cheminement, le contenu et les stratégies et mettre en œuvre des modifications pour s’assurer que la formation est efficace et adaptée;

- Amener graduellement des apprentis capitaines à devenir autonomes dans toutes les conditions d’opérations;

- Évaluer l’acquisition des compétences et participer aux décisions quant à l’autorisation de naviguer sur les bateaux d’Océan Remorquage et Navigation;

- S’assurer que les coûts sont rentabilisés pour l’entreprise en respect au budget établi;

- Coordonner, au besoin, l’évaluation des compétences du personnel navigant et assurer un suivi des besoins en formation et en recyclage.

EXIGENCES

- Détenir un brevet de capitaine SCTW II/2 - 3000 tonneaux ou plus – sans limitation de zone;

- Être en mesure d’obtenir un visa de Capitaine de la Jamaïque;

- Avoir travaillé à bord de navires assujettis au code ISM;

- Connaître le fonctionnement d’un SMS (Safety Management System) et des normes ISM;

- Être à l’aise avec la réglementation maritime applicable;

- Faire preuve de leadership;

- Être bilingue (Français – Anglais);

- Détenir une expérience pertinente (5 ans minimum) sur les remorqueurs à propulsion conventionnelle et azimutale;

- Avoir un bon sens de la pédagogie et de l’organisation;

- Être disponible pour des déplacements ponctuels au Québec et en Jamaïque;

- Connaissance de la Suite Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).

HORAIRE DE TRAVAIL

- Contrat à durée déterminée avec possibilité de permanence, temps plein : 40 heures/semaine;

- Horaire en alternance : Québec et Jamaïque selon les besoins;

- Quart de travail de jour, occasionnellement de soir et de fin de semaine, selon les besoins.

As the incumbent, you will be responsible for assessing the skills of seagoing personnel onboard tugs upon hiring. You will be responsible for structuring courses and developing training material based on the company’s training plan. You will coordinate the dissemination of practical and theoretical training in collaboration with the local training institution, in order to make candidates self-sufficient in their home port, and this, in all operating conditions. You will also assess candidates at the end of their training. Lastly, you will be required to travel to certain operations sites outside Canada, mainly in the Caribbean.

RESPONSIBILITIES

- Participate in the assessment and hiring process of seagoing deck personnel;

- As content expert, participate in the development of theoretical and practical lesson plans using the official training plan;

- Plan and organize theoretical and practical training in the operating port;

- Disseminate theoretical and practical training in collaboration with the local training institution and monitor the official training plan;

- Occasionally assess progress, content and strategies and implement changes to ensure that training is effective and relevant;

- Gradually bring apprentice captains to become self-sufficient in all operating conditions;

- Evaluate skills acquisition and participate in decisions regarding the authorization to sail on the vessels of Ocean Towing and Navigation;

- Ensure that costs give a good return for the company with respect to the established budget;

- Coordinate skills assessment for seagoing personnel where necessary and monitor the needs for training and retraining.

REQUIREMENTS

- Hold a STCW II/2 Master's certificate - 3000 gross tonnage or more - No area limitation;

- Eligible to obtain a Master's certificate from Jamaica;

- Having worked onboard ships subject to the ISM Code;

- Have knowledge of the functioning of a SMS (Safety Management System) and ISM standards;

- Comfortable with applicable marine regulations;

- Demonstrate leadership;

- Bilingual (French – English);

- Relevant experience (at least 5 years) on tugs with conventional and azimuthal propulsion;

- Good teaching and organizational skills;

- Available for occasional trips in Québec and Jamaica;

- Knowledge of Office Suite software (Word, Excel, Outlook).

WORK SCHEDULE

- Fixed-term contract with possibility of permanence, full-time: 40 hours/week;

- Rotating schedule: Québec and Jamaica, as needed;

- Day shifts, occasionally on nights and weekends, as needed.
