Reporting to Director-Towing Operations in Hamilton, the incumbent will perform towing maneuvers on a tugboat, lead a crew and manage the maintenance of the vessel.

YOUR TALENTS WILL BE USED TO MEET THE FOLLOWING CHALLENGES:
- Lead a crew and ensure the smooth running of maneuvers.
- Ensure that the vessel and crew are certified for the area of operation.
- Ensure the proper functioning of the vessel's equipment.
- Ensure the seaworthiness of the vessel in all conditions.
- Prepare and validate repair and modification lists with the Chief Engineer.
- Inspect material, structure and equipment according to the SINEX maintenance program.
- Promote and maintain the health and safety of all persons on board the vessel.
- Implement the company's safety and environmental protection policies.
- Implement the company's SMS system.
- Operate vessels in compliance with company and industry recognized practices.
- Participate and support the activities of the Health, Safety and Environment Management System.
OUR IDEAL COLLEAGUE HAS:
- Canadian Master certificate, 500T gross tonnage, inland navigation (M500-T3000);
- Medical certificate issued by Transport Canada;

Certificates of competency :
- MED Basic Safety STCW-BS;
- Lifeboat and Rescue Boat Operator Proficiency;
- Advanced Fire Fighting Techniques;
- Restricted Operator Certificate - Commercial Marine (ROC-CM);
- Basic Marine First Aid Training Certificate; do they need an advanced?
- Knowledge of the operation of a quality system with ISM standards (SMS);
- Valid driver's license (class 5);
- Availability during the day, night and weekends;
- Three (3) to five (5) years of experience as a captain on conventional and/or Voith type tugs;
- Experience on ASD tugs (asset);
- Experience in berthing vessels (asset);
- Experience as an officer on board a vessel equipped with an SMS system;
- Customer service oriented;
- Leadership and excellent teamwork skills;
- Good stress management (medium to high);
- Good organizational skills;
- Openness to learning and development.
