Ocean Services Ltd. is currently recruiting a  4th Engineer for one of our Canadian Flagged Vessels.

At Ocean Services we're dedicated to the safety and well-being of our seafarers and protection of the environment for future generations.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

In addition to any watch keeping duties, the Fourth Engineer is responsible to the Chief Engineer for the proper, safe, efficient and economical operation of the vessel’s main and auxiliary machinery and equipment, in accordance with the schedules and procedures issued by the Chief Engineer. The responsibilities include but are not limited to:

-Upon joining a vessel, the Fourth Engineer is to report to the Master and the Chief Engineer. S/he is to consult with the Engineer they are relieving regarding the machinery and equipment for which s/he will be held responsible. The Fourth Engineer must then inspect such machinery and equipment, reporting any deficiencies to the Chief Engineer.

-Complete NS PER 006 (Handover Report) & NS SAF 001 (Shipboard Familiarisation Record).

-Responsible for the maintenance, operation and the cleaning of the lube oil and fuel oil purifiers, bunkering/transfer operations (under the specific direction of the Chief Engineer) and the sea water evaporation plant operation and maintenance, compressors, and all pumps.

-To build up an intimate knowledge of all cargo handling machinery, pipeline systems, inserting / venting systems, deck machinery and fire-fighting equipment aboard the vessel.

-Direct unlicensed personnel in the proper and efficient execution of their duties.

-Ensure that due diligence and adequate care to prevent waste and improper use of material and supplies is observed.

-Identify and correct any unsafe working habits or conditions.

-Check that areas and equipment under his supervision are maintained in a clean and safe condition.

-Ensure positive action is taken in all cases to ensure that operations conform to company and other authoritative regulations.

-Enact the necessary measures in a time of emergency to ensure the safety of personnel and the preservation of the environment and company property.

All certs must be valid from Transport Canada. Required certifications include: Cert of Comp, Tanker Level 1, Security Duties, Marine Medical, MEDs, First Aid, WHMIS, Confined Space, Passport and applicants must be able to work in the US.
