Superintendant - Vessels

The Superintendent – Ships reports to the Director of Operations at Transport Desgagnés inc. He is responsible for the safety and performance of the vessels under his responsibility. Thus, he must effectively manage the budgetary, technical and operational aspects of the vessels under his responsibility in collaboration with the various managers (Captains, Officers and Chief Engineers) and the managers of other Transport Desgagnés inc.

 

Its daily priorities are, among others, the quality of services to customers, health, safety, security, compliance with environmental standards, compliance with laws and regulations, compliance with the requirements of classification and statutory societies, application of company policies and procedures, preventive and corrective maintenance of vessels, quality, sense of belonging, management and performance of seagoing personnel, cost management, supplier management and utilization efficient information systems on board ships, etc. All these priorities are carried out in accordance with established budgets.

 

He is fully responsible for the safety and performance of the vessels.

 
REQUIRED SKILLS
 
  • Certificate of chief engineer, captain or naval architect, or equivalent
  • Experience at sea and experience in ship repairs, including in shipyards
  • Experience in the field of commercial maritime transport
  • Experience in internal and external audits as well as ship inspection
  • Experience with classification societies and various regulations
  • Perfectly bilingual (spoken and written)
  • Sense of responsibility and commitment
  • Sense of organization and planning
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication and writing skills
  • Problem solving skills
