MARINE SUPERINTENDENT

TMSI Limited is a Nova Scotia based marine transportation company servicing Atlantic Canada. We have an immediate full time opening for a Marine Superintendent to work out of our Halifax N.S. location.

 

Duties and Responsibilities: 
Providefunctional support to vessel masters,chief-engineers and senior management.
Ensure compliance of the Plan Maintenance System on each vessel.
Manage engine room data and operating parametersand status reports.
Manage critical parts and supplies inventories.
Managerequisitionsand the procurement.
Plan and overseedry-docks and major refits.
Attend and chair regular shipboard meetings.
Ensure compliance of the ISM and ISPS requirements.
Advertise and screen for new hiresas needed.
Manage safety training for the crews.
Comply industry and legislative regulations.
Coordinate and attend regulatedinspectionsand audits.
Investigate and report on all incidents.
Liaise regularly with Class and port state officials.
Ready to respond to emegencies at all times.
Willing and able to travel on short notice.

 

 

 

Qualifications:
Va lid Canadian certificate of competency.
Minimum 5 years sailing experience as a senior officer on vessels over 3000 GRT.
Experience with electronic plan maintenance systems.
Experience with MAN 6L32/40 enginesan asset.
Competence and experience withISM and ISPS.
Competence and experience with Class and Transport Canada regulations.
Ability to work in stressful situations at to respond to problems decisively and effectively.
Proficiency and strong communication skills.
Fluency in French an asset.
Strong interpersonal skills




Candidates must provide evidence that they are collaborative team players, able to coordinate and interact simultaneously with multiple people on several projects. We also require high attention to detail and strong computer skills, particularly with all MS Office applications.
