Position title : Maritime Search and Rescue Coordinator

Position : 4 positions to be filled

Location : Quebec City

Salary : $70,213 to $79,832 - Coordinators are eligible to an annual allowance in the amount of $3,154 and hourly bonuses for evenings, nights and weekends shifts

Tasks: Using highly advanced computer and communication systems, you are part of a team that solves marine SAR cases. Coordinators oversee the activation, planning, and coordination, of Maritime Search and Rescue with the help of strategically located Canadian Coast Guard SAR vessels, Royal Canadian Air Force resources, and partners like police, fire, and emergency mdical services (EMS). Although this job can be very demanding at times, it is also rewarding, thrilling and empowering.

Requiered qualifications :

  • Bilingual imperative BBC/BBC;
  • A completed high school diploma or an acceptable combination of acceptable education, training and experience related to the position to be filled;
  • Watchkeeping Mate certificate or Valid Watchkeeping Mate, Near coastal certificate of Competency approved under SCTW 95 and issued under the Canada Shipping Act, 2001 Marine Personal Regulations SOR/2007-115 (or equivalent);
  • 12 months experience as a deck officer in charge of the watch; OR
  • 12 months experience as a Marine Rescue Co-ordinator or Assistant Coordinator at a Joint Rescue Coordination Center (JRCC) or Marine Rescue Sub-Center (MRSC); OR 
  • 12 months experience as an officer in a Marine Communications and Traffic Services Center (MCTS); OR
  • Equivalent experience as defined in section 106 (2) C of the Flight Personnel Regulations (SOR / 2007-115);
  • Knowledge of SAR methods and procedures associated with a maritime / aeronautical incident;
  • Critical Thinking (analyze an emergency situation and be able to take appropriate action);
  • Decision-making (making the right decisions in a timely manner in multiple situations);
  • Communication skills (ensure that the message is received and understood as intended);
  • Ability to use various computer tools;
  • Good interpersonal relations;
  • Judgement;
  • Initiative.
