The Owen Sound Transportation Company is currently accepting applications for the position of Dockperson for the Tobermory terminal.

Dockhand 

Location: Tobermory Terminal

Hours per week: 40 hours/week (with potential for overtime; position requires weekend work)

Pay Range: $19.16-$21.29

The Dockhand reports directly to the Terminal Supervisor.

The Dockhand will work according to his/her designated shift. Duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Marshaling vehicles in loading and standby zones as instructed by the Ticket Agent.
  • Securing and casting off the vessel as directed.
  • Engaging/disengaging the passenger ramp and raising/lowering the vehicle transfer bridge as directed.
  • Maintaining safe and clean access to and from the vessel for passengers and vehicles.
  • Maintaining general hygiene of the terminal building and property.
  • Assisting and directing passengers during loading and unloading to ensure their safety, with special attention being paid to those individuals who may require extra assistance. 
  • Performing Emergency Response Plan duties when required.
  • Maintaining strict compliance with all safety regulations regarding procedures and equipment as outlined in company policies and procedures.
  • General maintenance tasks to the terminal and grounds.
