Provide operation management services to several ships under charge to ensure they run in a safe manner as required by AESM, and the running costs for all the vessels are within the budget allocated by the ship owners. This position is particularly focused on supporting the Fednav vessels calling the St. Lawrence Seaway and Great Lakes system as well as all the other AE managed vessels calling Canadian ports.
Responsibilities:
- Monitor and contact all AE managed vessels coming into Canada supporting them with specific regulations and with helping them prepare for PSC and other inspections
- Assist VM’s and FM’s from other offices in management of their vessels when in Canadian waters
- Conduct vessel inspection as required for AE Managed vessels in Canadian Ports.
- Monitor and control the purchase and delivery of spare parts and stores supplied to the vessels.
- Assist & sometimes lead the ERT when emergency occurs on AE Managed vessels in Canadian waters
- Assist and participate in preparations and running of focused operations during the opening and closing of the St. Lawrence Seaway.
- Any other duty as seem fit from the supervisor.
Knowledge & Experience:
Education Chief Engineer’s Certificate of Competency
Fluent in spoken and written English, French an asset
Experience Minimum 5 years sea-going experience
Knowledge of the Great Lakes - St. Lawrence Seaway an asset
Experience as a Vessel Manager an asset
Abilities Computer literacy, intermediate level with Microsoft Office suite
