Job description:
Marine engineering officers help operate and maintain the ship’s engine room, machinery and other equipment, like the onboard water management system.
Your work location would be one of our Canadian Coast Guard ships, which are stationed across Canada’s coasts. A typical work schedule is 2-6 weeks onboard a ship, followed by the same amount of paid time off.

Duties and Responsibilities:
- Operating, maintaining and repairing the ship’s main engines, mechanical systems, deck equipment and other supporting equipment
- Updating oil record books, engine room logs and maintenance records
- Helping to supervise and train engineering crew assigned to the ship’s watch keeping system
- Participating in safety and emergency drills and operations, like all crew members
Education, Experience and Skills:
- Must be a Canadian citizen or permanent resident
- Experience working as a marine engineering officer
- Valid Transport Canada Fourth-class marine engineering certificate or higher
- Dependable, organized, with a strong work ethic
