Desgagnés Marine Cargo INC. (21, Marché-Champlain Street, Quebec City (Quebec) G1K 8Z8 Canada) is recruiting two (2) 2nd Officer for it’s Cargo Fleet vessels, trading in the Great Lakes, in Eastern Canada and in the Canadian Arctic.
The 2nd Officer assists the Chief Officer in cargo operations. He is also responsible, amongst other things, for creating the ship’s passage plans, updating publications and charts, and checking/inspecting navigation equipment.
Job requirements:
· Certificate: STCW Regulation II/1
· Watchkeeping Mate Certificate of Competency or higher (STCW)
· Generic ECDIS Training
· Valid Marine Medical Certificate
· Certificate of Competency in Marine Emergency Duties (STCW)
· Marine Advanced First Aid certificate (STCW)
· 2 months experience as 2nd Officer and 6 months experience as 3rd or 4th Officer on cargo vessels
· Proficiency in English (Working Language)
All applicants must have previous relevant experience on cargo vessels and hold all appropriate STCW certificates, as outlined above. The possession of Transport Canada certificates is not mandatory: Successful applicants will be supported by the Company in their efforts to obtain recognition of their STCW certificates by Transport Canada and employment will be conditional upon obtainment of such recognition.
The hourly rate is $ 37,05 for the first 40 hours/week and $ 55,58 thereafter (Min. 8h/day, 7 days/week, vessel operating 24 hours/day).
