Job Description
Coastal Shipping Limited is seeking qualified, safety-focused Deckhands to join our Canadian tanker fleet.
This is a seasonal full-time opportunity working on a 38 days on / 38 days off rotation. Depending on the vessel schedule and time of season, operations may include service in Canada’s Arctic, coastal waters, and the Great Lakes.
Deckhands are an important part of the vessel’s deck department and support the safe and efficient operation of the ship. We are looking for dependable marine professionals who work well as part of a team and maintain a strong commitment to safety and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities
- Assist with mooring, anchoring and general deck operations
- Participate in cargo-related deck duties as directed
- Perform vessel maintenance, cleaning, painting and preservation work
- Assist with safe handling of lines, hoses and deck equipment
- Participate in safety drills and emergency duties
- Maintain assigned deck areas and equipment
- Follow company safety procedures, vessel SMS requirements and instructions from vessel officers
- Support safe tanker operations and contribute to a professional onboard working environment
Required Qualifications / Documents
Applicants should provide copies of applicable certificates and documentation with their application, including:
- Resume
- Valid Marine Medical / STCW Transport Canada Medical
- Basic Safety Training (BST) – Transport Canada recognized
- Proficiency in Survival Craft and Rescue Boats other than Fast Rescue Boats (PSCRB)
- Marine Security Training / Security certification
- Tanker Oil and Chemical Certificate
- Seafarer’s Identity Document (SID)
- Valid marine credentials appropriate to the position
- Proof of eligibility to work in Canada
Previous tanker experience is considered an asset.
Experience operating in northern, Arctic or ice-covered waters is also highly valued.
